If I'm being honest, writing a book usually looks a lot like staring blankly at a screen on my iPad or laptop while wrapped in a blanket, fumbling around in the dark, and hoping it all comes together. Well, the document is open, the manuscript pages are coming together, and I'm beyond thrilled to finally pull back the curtain and welcome you into the worlds and characters I give life to through my writing.

A Lifelong Love Affair with Romance

My obsession with love stories started way back when I was a teen. Back then it was probably something from Francine Pascal's Sweet Valley High series. As I got older, that taste naturally gravitated toward high-heat, steamy contemporary romance. Nowadays, I'm not really tied to any particular author. My next read is usually a recommendation from a friend or something that stood out in Kindle Unlimited. While paperbacks and e-readers are definitely at the top of my go-to list, my consumption of love stories isn't limited to just books. I love a good romance across every format—movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and yes, even those addictive mini-dramas (don't judge).

That lifelong addiction always had me dreaming of writing my own fiction. For a long time, becoming an author always seemed impractical. But eventually, you reach a point where you realize life is short and you want to live out as many of your dreams as you can in whatever time you have on this earth. So, here I am.

Why the Pen Name?

If you're wondering why I write under a pen name and keep my real identity private, it comes down to protecting the boundary between two entirely different worlds. I’ve had a very successful career in my day job, but writing steamy romance on the side isn't something my professional network would widely embrace. Maintaining that separation is simply for the best, at least for the time being. Fortunately, in the romance community, readers care far more about the chemistry, the emotional payoff, and the tropes than what my corporate day job looks like.

Building Worlds and Writing Heat

If I had to narrow down my favorite part about writing romance, I absolutely love building story bibles. Crafting the characters, mapping out their emotional arcs, and building out the world they exist in is such an incredible thrill.

When it comes down to actually writing the prose, my favorite part is scripting the high-heat intimate scenes. I don't use overly explicit or anatomical verbiage. Instead, I love finding the right combination of sensory words to help you visualize the scene in your mind without the words themselves being too raunchy. It’s almost like you and I are working together in those moments, combining my prose with your imagination to bring the scene to life. By not being too literal, I leave the visual open to interpretation, letting you feel entirely immersed in the emotional and physical tension.

Looking Ahead

My first novel, A Shimmering Lie, has been so much fun to write that I am already looking forward to the next book in the series. In fact, I’ve had to take breaks to jot down stray ideas for future projects just to keep my mind from getting too hung up so I can focus on finishing this first one! I can’t wait for you to read this book and am so excited to have you along for this wild ride.
